June 16th – Squarespace

Squarespace is a similar product to Wix, but with a cleaner look and a price tag.

June 16th – Squarespace

Squarespace has had a big push in advertising and for a good reason – I think their templates are far and above the best out there.  It is another What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor which the page is before you and you move an image, click save and its affected – we’ll look at website content managers in a few days.

Introduction:

Squarespace is another signup for a 2 week trial and create a website based on a certain interest.  The site asks you a few questions about your audience, purpose and then to title your website.  Then you are able to click on anything and change the text, image, color, navigation – whatever you’d like.

Pros:

The pages are gorgeous.  Really clean look and  professional looking.  All of their designs are great and drive our audience to get sucked in and engaged in your website.

Cons:

The payment part.  Other websites offer a few free templates and then the “premium” templates are a fee.  Squarespace’s templates are all amazing so I get the fee, but it’s a big risk if you don’t have that much time to focus on it and need a quick site.  I’d suggest learning the mechanics on another website creation product and then coming back to Squarespace once your skills are honed.
